Waffle strudel

The combination of waffles and strudel sounds like a modern confectionery experiment, but there are actually several interesting interpretations and ideas surrounding it. A dessert that combines elements from both culinary worlds: the crispy structure and shape of the waffle and the filling and aroma of strudel – most often apple, cinnamon and raisins.

Apple waffles are wonderful for breakfast or dessert, topped with honey, walnuts, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or anything your imagination can suggest.

Ingredients:

3 smaller apples

2 eggs

1 cup fresh milk

45 g butter

1 teacup flour

½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp grated nutmeg

1 tsp cinnamon powder

1 pack vanilla sugar

If desired, a spoonful, two ground walnuts and raisins can be added.

Method of preparation:

The apples are cleaned of seeds, peeled and grated on a coarse grater. The eggs, milk and melted butter are beaten. The baking powder, spices and flour are added. The apples are added to the resulting pancake batter (if the apples are juicier, they are squeezed slightly). The waffles are baked until golden in a well-heated and buttered waffle iron. Serve with honey, baked apples or vanilla ice cream.
