Christmas fortune cookies

Christmas comes quietly — without noise and glitter, but with that special feeling of light that settles in the heart. It reminds us that the most precious gifts are not wrapped in paper, but carried in the soul: kindness, forgiveness, hope, love…

During these days, the home smells of comfort, the table brings together loved ones, and time seems to slow down to give us a chance to truly look at ourselves — with gratitude for the past and faith in the future. Christmas teaches us to be more humble, more humane, and more open to each other.

Christmas truly begins when the kitchen becomes a sweet mess, flour is everywhere, and cookies disappear before they're even cold. They're not just a treat—they're proof that the holidays are made with hands, heart, a little patience... and a lot of cinnamon.

Every Christmas cookie has its own character – one is a little crooked, another slightly burnt, a third lavishly decorated, but they are all delicious because they are made with mood and dedication. While we bake them, we laugh, listen to Christmas music, try “just one” and remember that the best moments don’t come with a recipe.

May this Christmas be as sweet as a homemade cookie – warm, shared and sprinkled with magic sugar. More laughter, less worries and enough cookies for everyone… and if there aren’t enough – then it was fun!

And the combination of a cookie with a fortune makes it even more unpredictable and complete with a little miracle. You eat it with impatience, read your fortune and secretly wish for it to come true. Because during the holidays, we believe that even the smallest words have the power to make the days brighter.

May the cookies be sweet, the lucky ones be happy, and Christmas be just as magical as we wish it to be!

Happy, shared and blessed Christmas holidays!

Christmas Fortune Cookies

Ingredients:

125 g butter

1 egg

1 tsp powdered sugar

1 small cup oil (90-100 ml)

1 vanilla

½ pack baking powder

3.5 teacups flour

1 tsp cocoa

Method of preparation:

In a large bowl, mix the soft butter, egg and powdered sugar and beat well. Then add the oil, baking powder, vanilla and gradually the flour. Knead the mixture until you get a dough that does not stick to your hands. From it, separate a small ball (the size of an orange), which is colored brown with cocoa. Wrap the two colors of dough in stretch film and leave in the refrigerator for about half an hour to cool. Roll out the well-cooled white dough into a crust, not too thin, and shape rectangular cookies using a curly cutter. From the brown dough (again rolled out into a thin crust), cut out small gingerbread man shapes (you can shape Christmas trees, hearts, by coloring the dough in green and red beforehand). Carefully stick the figures to one end of the cookie. In the upper part of the cookie, two holes are punched (close to each other - about 0.5 cm diagonally) using a straw. Another option for decorating is to use ready-made sugar decorations, which are glued (with glucose or confectionery glue) onto the already baked cookies. The cookies are baked in a preheated oven at 1600C for about 10-15 minutes. The finished cookies are cooled on racks.

Carefully thread a small ribbon or thin string through the two holes. On small pieces of paper, we write our best wishes for our loved ones and roll them up, which we tie to the cookie.
