Pistachio snowballs

Winter invites young and old to immerse themselves in crazy games, fun and banter in the fluffy snow. It's time for snow fun! Sledding, building snowmen, snowball fights... All these fun activities turn us into children again, spending unforgettable moments with the little ones.

It is interesting, however, that a ban on snowball fights was in effect in the US state of Colorado until 2018, when a nine-year-old boy managed to persuade the local government of the city of Severance to lift the ban, using simple childish logic.

"Today's children need reasons to play outside..." he announces and adds "… The kids of Severance want to participate in a snowball fight like the rest of the world. The kids want to have snowball fights without breaking the law. The kids want to have a voice in our town."

The authorities unanimously voted to lift the ban. The mayor then allowed the boy to throw the first snowball legally. The boy commented that his younger brother would be his first target and promised not to break any windows.

Well, the snowballs from today's recipe are not for fighting, but they can successfully help break some taboos... Fragrant, fragile and melting in the mouth, these sweets are wonderful for the Christmas selection of culinary delights.

Ingredients:

150 g soft butter

1 egg yolk

90 g powdered sugar + more for rolling

1 tsp vanilla extract

200 g flour

100 g ground pistachios

½ tsp baking powder

pinch of salt

Method of preparation:

The oven is heated to 1750C. Cream the soft butter together with the powdered sugar. Add the yolk and vanilla. Add the nuts, flour and salt. Mix everything well. Form small balls, the size of a walnut, from the dough and arrange them on a tray covered with baking paper. Bake the balls for about 12-15 minutes. Cool slightly and roll in powdered sugar. For a better result, roll them a second time.
